COLOR CODE FOR  JSI

                                                                                                November 10, 2006    DHH

The extensive serial reconstruction of the male tail region in JSI has not included an exact key to the cells that were traced.  Thus this color code is sketchy for now.

The print series consists of a fairly comprehensive set of low power views proceeding from tail tip to the anterior edge of the PAG, and a higher power series of prints covering the PAG neuropil.  Many other tissues can be seen in the low power images, but most are not labeled.  Use the Search function to narrow in on images that display your tissue of interest.

Red numbers are neurons from:

             Pre-anal Ganglion      1,2,3,4,5,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,22-38

            Cloacal Ganglion        6,7,8,9,10,11,12,20

21     is cloacal epithelium

Brown numbers are parts of the proctodeum (epithelium)

Green numbers are lumbar neurons (ray neurons)

and their processes can be easily followed as they travel into the PAG neuropil
